This is done through providing the best habilitative and rehabilitative therapy for hearing loss, speech and language disorders, swallowing and feeding difficulties and related sensory and neural problems that arise from different conditions. Speech and language therapists work to help individuals with children and adults address issues of; 1. Communication skills 2. Cognitive skills (intellectual, thinking) 3. Weak oral muscles 4. Motor planning problems 5. Articulation problems 6. Fluency disorders 7. Respiratory problems 8. Feeding and swallowing difficulties (dysphagia) 9. Social skills among others. Therapists work on directly and indirectly in conjunction with other professionals to manage and treat a group of clients and patients that include but not limited to children and adults with conditions such as; 1. Autism Spectrum Disorders 2. Down Syndrome 3. Cerebral Palsy 4. Learning disorders that have no specific cause 5. Cleft lip or cleft palate (both before and after surgery) 6. Hearing impairments 7. Developmental delays and disorders 8. Dysfluencies 9. Stroke 10. Muscular dystrophies 11. Traumatic brain injuries 12. Cancers especially cancers that affect the head and neck 13. Dementia 14. Parkinson’s disease 15. Aphasias 16. Motor speech disorders 17. Voice and laryngeal disorders among others They also treat individuals who have suffered stroke and can't communicate anymore, persons that have experienced traumatic brain injury that leaves damage to the brain, and cancers that have insulted the voice box and the pharynx leaving them unable to swallow or speak well, dementia and more neurological conditions that leave people unable to communicate or even swallow well.
